Please note the following changes to the uniform policy:
1. Students may wear black pants in addition to the choices already provided (which are khaki and navy blue).
2. Students may wear polos that have a small logo (no larger than a quarter size). If students wear a polo with the South Cobb crest, the crest is larger than quarter size. This is the only acceptable logo that should be larger than a quarter.
In addition, a note of clarification: it is NOT a requirement for students to purchase South Cobb shirts with logos on them. However, please remember: Fridays are spirit days, which means jeans can only be worn if the student wears a shirt (can be a polo, oxford, or t-shirt) that displays the name "South Cobb".
We will have a parent organizational meeting Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 6-7pm in the theater of South Cobb High School. Please park in the bus port and follow the signs directing you to the main office. The theater is just through the double doors outside of the main office. There will be a uniform vendor on site during the meeting to share with you items from the school uniform store she has set up just for South Cobb. She will have shirts available for purchase that night that have the South Cobb crest on them. Please bring cash or credit card only. Prices range from $12.00 and up per item. We will also discuss in this meeting ideas and needs for the FTA parent organization.
We will provide hard copies of the uniform policy and supply list during our summer orientation program (TSA) for all those having technical difficulties downloading information from this website. In addition, these items will be available in the front office if your child is not attending TSA.
Please note that the majority of communications/information regarding the Freshman Transition Academy will take place via this website and automated voicemail system. The best way to communicate questions/concerns PRIOR to school starting August 15th is by e-mailing our coordinator at renee.basinger@cobbk12.org. After school starts, we will have a voicemail box where you can leave messages for the coordinator if you need to speak with her personally. Please know one of our main goals is to have open lines of communication between parents and staff, so while any and all feedback is welcome, we do appreciate your patience while we are setting up our new building and getting ready for your students.
With that being said, it is our understanding that the automated voicemail went out to all students registered for the summer program (TSA). You should have received the message on Tuesday, July 26th. If you did not receive it, and you did send in the registration form on time, please e-mail Ms. Basinger ASAP (see e-mail address above). We need to make certain we have every single student in the system who is supposed to be.
AttachedDownload Voicemail for TSA is a copy of the automated voicemail message that is set to go out to all students who have been registered for the TSA summer program. If you did not receive voicemail message on Tuesday, July 26th and you feel as if you should have received the message, please e-mail Ms. Basinger ASAP at renee.basinger@cobb.k12.org.
Please open the attached document to view the supply list for the Freshman Transition Academy (FTA). Please note: the specific class supply lists by teacher will be provided to students by their instructor during the first week of school.Download School supply list
If you are unable to open this document (it is saved as a dox file), please e-mail Mrs. Basinger at renee.basinger@cobbk12.org, and she will be happy to forward you a compatible copy.
We will be sending out (either via letter or voicemail) specific information regarding the TSA schedule, including where parents should drop their students off and pick them up, what they need to wear, what they need to bring with them, etc. sometime next week. In the meantime, if you should have specific questions, please feel free to e-mail the FTA coordinator, Renee Basinger at renee.basinger@cobbk12.org. Please be aware that due to construction, our phone system is not very consistent and so reaching Mrs. Basinger by leaving a voicemail might not be the best way to communicate your questions/concerns at this time. Thank you for your patience as we continue to make this program the very best it can be for our students!
Attention Parents: If you are interested in getting involved in South Cobb's Freshman Transition Academy and you have a child who will be a freshman here next year, we want you! We are having a parent organizational meeting on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 6pm in the main theater. We would love to have you there!
Also, we are in need of parents to help out during our summer orientation program (T.S.A.) which will take place Monday, August 1 thru Friday, August 5 from 8:30am-12pm. We need help checking students in with arrivals, helping them transition between sessions, handing out snacks, and helping them with dismissal. Any and all help would be appreciated. If you can volunteer, please contact our FTA coordinator, Renee Basinger, at renee.basinger@cobbk12.org
The new (and final) deadline for registration for the TSA summer is July 22nd. We will mail out information letters to all students who have registered before TSA begins.
